This is what we pros refer to as all of the nopeĭayZ is bubbling over with potential and possibilities. It is a game of commitment, particularly with the Epoch addition, a mod that has allowed players to craft, building great fortresses that further serve to increase the “nope” moments of the game. As a long term sufferer of being straight up murdered, I can assure you that DayZ is not a game for people of a panicky disposition. It is a game designed to make you work for its love, creating an environment that leaves you near permanently tense, your eyes constantly flitting around, looking for that flash of movement that will indicate shit is about to go down. Run into a town unawares and you’re just as likely to find your head taken from your shoulders by a ghillie suit clad sniper on the hill 700 metres away as you are to find yourself surrounded by a pack of slavering zombies. Unlike the ever entertaining Zombies mode in Call of Duty, it’s not just endless waves of the undead hurling themselves at your Ray Gun, it’s a long procedure that tests your wits and instincts at every minute. From the persistent fear of bandits and the permanent threat of hunger and thirst, DayZ is quite possibly the greatest survival game currently out there, giving a comprehensive and engaging look at what it may be like to live through a zombie apocalypse. It is your job to attempt to survive this horror for as long as possible, going from a fresh spawn with nothing more than a can of beans to your name to a hero survivor rolling around the map in a rocket launcher equipped Humvee, packing enough weaponry to start a small war. The world has gone to ruin, racked by a terrible and mysterious virus that turns people into zombies. Set in the fictional post-Soviet state of Chernarus, though now expanded to many other locations each with their own distinct characteristics, it sees the player take the role of a character in the massively multiplayer environment of a zombie apocalypse. I think they're trying to address some of those rendering bugs.DayZ is, quite frankly, an incredible game. 0.61 should be a much better place for Ghillies, or possibly with the hotfix they're working on in Experimental right now. The Ghillie is fun and all, but I don't trust other people's rendering quality to make it very useful right now. Imagine seeing a white ghillie running through a green forest, stands out like a sore thumb.Įven if they don't render white, the ghillie doesn't lose as much texture detail when everything else looks like construction paper, so you have a detailed bush wookie standing in a forest that looks like a backdrop from a Season 1 South park episode. That and there are loads of people having issues with their textures turning way down randomly, causing anything from grass and trees failing to render at certain ranges, textures fuzz into what looks like construction paper and lose a great deal of detail, and sometimes players don't render correctly and all of their clothes are bone white. ![]() Having to leave your hiding spot so much makes you stand out and gives away your position. You overheat very quickly in a Ghillie, and that means you have to drink tons of water, which means you'll be going to and from ponds and wells and you have to roll around in ponds to cool off by being soaking wet. The reason it's not very good right now is because Chernarus is hot as hell currently. You stand out inside an urban area though. It doesn't make you invisible, but it makes it so that someone who isn't looking for you will overlook you more easily. ![]() If you stay to the thick trees and bushes that are colored similarly to you, it helps.
